What are Voting Neuron Grants
- Continuation of the pilot phase for incentivising voting neurons
- 2 grants for each of the 7 most important proposal topics
- Grants are disbursed to the selected recipients once a month as long as they provide monthly evidence for their work
- Topics that require code reviews now include monthly calls where the grantees present proposal reviews and engage in discussions.
- DFINITY would reserve the right to terminate the grant if the review is not satisfactory

What to Do to Receive the Grant
As a selected candidate, you must apply for a Developer Award for each topic you are reviewing on the 15th of every month to receive your grant for the previous review period.
Important: Applications submitted more than ten days after the 15th of the month will not be considered.
Once your application is successfully reviewed, the grant distribution is typically processed 10–20 days after submission. Follow the instructions below carefully when completing your application:
-
For “Application type,” select “R&D/Neuron Grant.”
-
Select the topic(s) for which you reviewed proposals.
-
Indicate whether you are applying as an individual or as a team.
-
Enter the neuron ID of the voting neuron in the corresponding field:
- This neuron must have directly voted on at least 90% of the proposals for the selected topic and must be a known neuron.
-
In the “Project Name” field, enter the name of your entity and the period you reviewed, using the following format:
"[your entity's name] - [reviewed period]"
- Example: On November 15th, CodeGov would submit
"CodeGov - October"
as the project name.
-
Use this spreadsheet to collect and submit your evidence along with other participants.
- Each review period has its own sheet (see bottom tabs). Ensure you enter your data in the correct one.
- For every proposal and vote in the topic(s) you are reviewing, include a link to your evidence (your forum post).
- You must submit evidence for at least 90% of the proposals within the topic(s) you are reviewing to qualify for the grant.
- If you are a large team applying for a team grant, then at least three reviewers must demonstrate that they have performed the verification steps individually. In this case:
- Include a separate link to each reviewer’s evidence as structured in the spreadsheet’s skeleton.
How to Verify a Proposal
To verify a proposal, follow these steps:
- Provide a summary of the proposal.
- State your reason for voting to adopt or reject it.
- Provide evidence that you verified the proposal. This includes the following checks (please note that there might be changes to these in the future) based on the proposal type:
